Alzheimer's San Diego's 8th annual Date with a Cure event welcomes public to ask questions about dementia research, treatment and more
Upon receiving an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis, one of the first questions many people ask is whether there is a cure or treatment.
Alzheimer’s San Diego president and CEO Eugenia Welch said the upcoming event is unique in that the general public can ask their questions directly to experts.“Very often organizations have research forums, but it’s a lecture,” Welch said, whereas the forum “is where you get to ask your questions and get that detailed information.”
For a long time, hope for an effective medicine to treat the terminal condition seemed far off, but ahead of the upcoming webinar, panelists expressed optimism given the FDA’s accelerated approval earlier this for lecanemab. The drug is a monoclonal antibody medication given by intravenous infusion that targets amyloid beta proteins in the brain.
