Hughes was born in Sugar Land and starred there at Fort Bend Austin High School before a strong collegiate career at Texas Christian University, becoming a first-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2010 NFL Draft.
After three years with the Colts, Hughes joined the Buffalo Bills, where he had his strongest statistical seasons with 10 sacks each in 2013 and 2014. Last season, starting in 16 of 17 games for the Bills, Hughes had two sacks and 18 tackles. Over his 12 years, the defensive end has 58 career sacks.
