Zachariah Mustafa was to play Carl in the Catastrophic Theatre's production of Sarah Kane's play"Cleansed." Mustafa died March 19, and the production was canceled.which was scheduled to open this Friday after the death of cast member Zachariah Mustafa.“The cast is just devastated,” said Catastrophic Theatre co-artistic director Tamarie Cooper. “They had jelled and put so much heart and work and passion into the process.

The production would have been the regional premiere of the play, written by the late playwright Kane and first staged in London in 1998. A statement from the Catastrophic Theatre said “the cast had become a body with Zachariah as its heart.” The theater will host a memorial service from 1-4 p.m. on April at MATCH in the MATCH Box 3 theater where “Cleansed” was to be staged.
