Nearly all of Houston's 13 Forbes list billionaires made more money in 2023

landed at No. 256 on the list. Janice McNair, widow of Robert McNair and inheritor of his 80 percent stake in the Houston Texans, is No. 534 on the list with a net worth of $5 billion. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' $13.3 billion net worth placed him above both at No. 133. Astros owner Jim Crane came in at 1,804 with an estimated $1.6 billion. Amy Adams Strunk, the daughter of the late owner of the Tennessee Titans Bud Adams came in at 1,725 — and new to the list — with a net worth of $1.

Several members of the Butt family, which founded H-E-B in 1905 and retain 90 percent ownership of the San Antonio-based company, make appearances on the list, led by current chairman and former CEO Charles Butt with a net worth of $7.5 billion. Collectively, the family is worth $14.1 billion,. This is the first year the list separates inherited family fortunes among family members.

Despite the overall decrease in wealth, the U.S. still ranks first in the world with 735 billionaires worth a total $4.5 trillion. Seven of the top 10 wealthiest billionaires come from the U.S., including Musk and fellow tech co-founders Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison and Bill Gates. The top spot went to France's Bernard Arnault, CEO of luxury goods company LVMH, with brands like Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton and Sephora. Arnault and his family are valued at $211 billion.
