The University of Houston is the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament men’s basketball committee’s bracket preview revealed Saturday, a significant first step as the Cougars bid to play in the Final Four in their own backyard.

Additionally, four of the previous times the NCAA has done an early reveal , one of the No. 1 seeds from February went on to win the national title. Only one other time has UH been a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, in 1983 when Phi Slama Jama advanced to the national championship game against North Carolina State.
