Houston police release video of June standoff that left officer injured, man dead by apparent suicide
Houston Police officer Sabeh Salameh was shot in both legs as he was responding to a report of suspicious person with a weapon at the complex. The video shows Salameh falling to the ground after being shot and calling for help less than two minutes after arriving at the complex.Police spent about six hours in a standoff with Clemons while he was inside an apartment at the complex. Hostage negotiators and family members attempted to talk to Clemons, according to police.
The body camera video shows police firing tear gas at the apartment Clemons was in, while the sounds of more gunshots could be heard coming from the apartment.No officers fired their guns during the incident, according to the police department. Salameh was released from the hospital not long after the shooting, according to the police department.
The incident is still under investigation by the department's special investigations unit and internal affairs division, according to the police department.
