Houston-based health care company announces opening of microhospital in Albuquerque

Houston health care company Nutex Health on Tuesday announced the opening of a new location in Albuquerque as part of a larger effort to open more microhospitals in the coming years.

Microhospitals, a growing trend in health care services, are inpatient facilities that typically offer a small number of beds and limited types of hospital services. The 20,000-square-foot Nutex facility in Albuquerque will have an emergency room, eight exam rooms, four inpatient beds as well as imaging, pharmacy and laboratory services. It would be Nutex's second microhospital in Albuquerque.

Nutex Health has 19 locations in eight states and employs 900 physicians among 1,200 full-time employees, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the quarter ended March 31. The company merged with Clinigence Holdings, headquartered in Florida, in April.
