WASHINGTON—The House passed a $777.9 billion annual defense-policy bill Thursday by a 316-113 vote, authorizing more funding for the Pentagon than President Biden had requested, while also tackling thorny debates related to draft registration and military sexual assaults.
Republicans joined Democrats in the House to approve the National Defense Authorization Act, which would boost defense spending by $37.5 billion, or about 5%, over last year’s budget.
