House of the Dragon renewed for season 3 ahead of second season debut

HBO has officially renewed House of the Dragon for season 3 just days before the second season premieres on the network.

Just a few days before the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel series premieres on HBO, the network has renewed House of the Dragon for season 3. Given how successful the first season was, it's not an especially shocking development. Talking to Deadline last year, HBO EVP Francesca Orsi suggested that House of the Dragon would last at least four seasons. She also claimed that the turnaround between seasons 2 and 3 would be shorter than the gap between the first and second seasons.
