Apart from five Republicans who joined Democrats in opposing the bill, the vote fell along party lines.The bill would mandate schools’ curriculum be made available to parents, including books and reading materials inside school libraries. The bill also contains a number of amendments regarding transgender students. The bill would require schools to inform parents if transgender students are participating in sports or using school bathrooms corresponding with their gender identity.
Julia Letlow said the bill “aims to bring more transparency and accountability to education, allowing parents to be informed and when they have questions and concerns to lawfully bring them to their local school boards.” Rep.
