Alex McCauley selected to fill the Rainbow board trustee seat vacated following the death of Dena Morrison in September

The retired chief of Greater Sudbury’s police service has been selected as a trustee with the Rainbow District School Board.

The Rainbow board invited members of the public to apply to fill the vacant trustee seat. Other applicants for the position were Maureen Egan, Darrell Hillier, Katlyn Kotila, Jeff McKibbon, Jessica Montgomery and Julie Ritchie. He said he’s always been interested in being involved in the community, as well as politics and education. McCauley previously ran unsuccessfully for the Liberals to become the MPP for Nickel Belt, losing to the NDP’s Shelley Martel.

He has also served the provincial government as a board member with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission and as an adjudicator with the Licence Appeal Tribunal.
