HOMEOWNERS who leave their second houses unused are set to have their council tax bills doubled under levelling-up plans to be unveiled this week in a bid to aid 'crucial services' this week, according to a Government source. This follows Council Tax being raised earlier this month despite the fact that Britons are already struggling to make ends meet.
English local authorities will gain “discretionary powers” to levy a premium of up to 100 percent on Council Tax bills for second homes that are furnished but not occupied as a sole or main residence.
