Here's how the nail artist created it.
Whether or not you enjoy oysters from a culinary standpoint, you have to admit, their shells are dazzling — not so much the calciferous exterior, but the lining. Commonly referred to as mother-of-pearl or nacre, the smooth interior has a naturally iridescence that's been a favorite of jewelers for centuries. And more recently it inspired a manicure we just can't stop staring at.
Last week, England-based nail artist Isabel May shared an Instagram post featuring a manicure she did on herself that she's calling "oyster shell" nails. Her oval nails are coated in an incredible iridescent finish that shifts from a silvery opalescent color to nearly neon shades of pink, blue, green, and yellow. That's especially apparent in the second slide of her post, a video closeup of the manicure from different angles.
The post has gotten more than 10,000 likes and 200 comments, most of which are gushing over how gorgeous the manicure looks. "These are just ridiculously beautiful! 😍," one person wrote, while another wrote, "Most amazing nails you have ever done 😱😱❤️❤️xx.
