USA TODAY's naledi_ushe spoke with stars of 'Hocus Pocus 2,' the sequel to the 1993 cult classic, at the film's premiere in New York City.
The"Hocus Pocus 2" star, known for her character's distinct growl and unintentional humor, remembers when the original came out in 1993 and how it wasn't as popular as it became over time.
Over time, Najimy jokes that the following of"Hocus Pocus" is immortal, sort of like the Sanderson sisters."We can't kill it! It won't die!" she exclaims.Lilia Buckingham, who stars as high school teen Cassie in the sequel, is younger than the original film. At 19 years old, she is proof of how the original film continued to be a Halloween staple.
The idea that people could be watching the Disney+ sequel 29 years from now is"impossible to comprehend," Buckingham says."It's kind of the coolest thing I think I'll ever do in my whole life. … I just can't think about it."
