National Hispanic Heritage Month began Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 15. More than half of Hispanic people in Cuyahoga County live in Cleveland.
Primarily, the Hispanic population in Cuyahoga County is Puerto Rican, with 46,332 people. This is followed by Mexican and Cuban .
Cleveland has the second largest Hispanic population in the state, behind Columbus with 70,179 people, about 7.7% of the city’s population. Cities with the highest percentage of Hispanic populations include neighboring cities like Lorain , Painesville , and Brooklyn . Nationally, there are 62 million Hispanic people in the United States, or 18.7% of the total population, according to the 2020 census. Since 2010, the nation’s Hispanic population grew by 14.7%.
