, there is, indeed, a myriad of worlds, certainly in Philip Pullman’s modern classic of imaginative fiction. In this clip alone we see demons in the forms of leopards, monkeys and one huge big bear.
Actually, that bear might not be a demon – some things are best left unspoiled – but the trailer provides an intriguing look at Season 1 of the upcoming fantasy series. Adapted from Pullman’s award-winning book trilogy,follows Lyra, “a seemingly ordinary but brave young woman from another world,” in HBO’s description. “Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust.
Also starring are James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, who has a demon in the form of a snow leopard; Ruth Wilson as villainess Mrs. Coulter ; and Lin-Manuel Miranda who plays Lee Scoresby, a Texan who flies air balloons. Produced by Bad Wolf and New Line Cinema, the series also features Anne-Marie Duff, Clarke Peters, Ariyon Bakare, Ian Gelder, Georgina Campbell, Lucian Msamati, James Cosmo, Mat Fraser, Geoff Bell, Simon Manyonda, Lewin Lloyd, Daniel Frogson and Tyler Howitt.
