Major League Baseball has meted out discipline in the case of the Houston Astros' illegal sign-stealing in 2017.
General manager Jeff Luhnow and manager AJ Hinch received one-year suspensions and the team announced afterwards that both have been fired. “If you read the report it’s clear that neither of them started this, but neither of them did anything to stop it.” Astros owner Jim Crane said in a press conference Monday afternoon."AJ was upset. I think he understands the consequences and said ‘I'm sorry and I'll do whatever I can to help the team.’" said Crane. The team is also subject to a $5 million fine, the largest permitted amount under the current collective bargaining agreement.
