The federal indictment that Trump now faces was called "the most significant federal criminal case in the history of our country" by John P. Fishwick, Jr., a former U.S. attorneyTrump himself took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to call the federal indictment "the Greatest Witch Hunt of all time." Trump also then questioned when President Joe Biden will be indicted "for his many crimes against our Nation.

The recent federal indictment is not the only indictment Trump currently faces. The former president was alsoby the Manhattan district attorney’s office on 34 counts over hush money payments he made in 2016 to adult film star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal to cover up alleged affairs with both women.

Trump remains the frontrunner for the Republican Party's 2024 presidential nominee race. Former Harvard Law School professor and New York Times bestseller Alan Dershowitz claims that the federal indictment and subsequent trial will more than likely affect the presidential race no matter what ends up happening.. "If [the trial is] sooner, it will affect the primaries. If it’s later, it will affect the elections. If there’s already been an election, that would change things, as well.
