Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton again criticized her former presidential primary opponent Senator Bernie Sanders, suggesting he promises 'the moon' while failing to deliver in a Thursday interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
Host Ellen DeGeneres asked Clinton about her earlier comments concerning Sanders, saying"it must feel good" to speak freely. Clinton replied by noting that the documentary interview was filmed over a year earlier but said that she had"a pretty clear perspective about what it's going to take to win" the presidency.
"I think that you should tell people what you mean, mean what you say, and have some sense of responsibility for how you would get anything done that you talk about," said Clinton. "I just want everybody to understand how high the stakes are and to hold every candidate and every public office holder accountable for what they do, or they don't do," Clinton said.
DeGeneres maintained that nominating a candidate inclined towards"going to the extreme" or making promises they can't fulfill would be a mistake, adding that"anyone can say anything." Clinton agreed, while contending that"the biggest turnout ever" would be required to beat Trump.
