The stepfather dies in a crash while trying to get help for his 14-year-old stepson, who was later found dead along a trail at Big Bend National Park.
BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, Texas — A 31-year-old Florida man was killed Friday when he drove his car over an embankment while trying to get help for his 14-year-old stepson, who had become ill during a hike in extreme heat at a national park.
The parks service says rangers were called to the Marufo Vega Trail in the park at about 6 p.m. The man and his two stepsons were hiking on the trail with the temperature at 119 degrees.
