Safe work procedures require a closure if 10 millimetres of rain falls over a 12-hour period, said the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Rainfall has completely closed Highway 4 at the Cameron Lake Bluffs because it is increasing the risk of debris falling onto the road.

Crews have been rock scaling on roadside slopes — removing loose rock — after a wildfire around the bluffs caused instability. The protective mesh put in place to allow the work to go ahead has been lowered in concert with the closure.
