Woobens Pacius of Forge FC heads the ball during a Canadian Premier League match Saturday afternoon against the HFX Wanderers. Pacius scored 65 seconds into the match for the lone goal in a 1-0 Forge victory. - CANADIAN PREMIER LEAGUEThe floundering HFX Wanderers keep sliding down the Canadian Premier League table and further away from a playoff spot.

An early goal was the only scoring Forge FC needed Saturday afternoon as they dropped the reeling Wanderers 1-0 at a scorching Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont. The Halifax-based club is winless in six matches. The Wanderers’ last victory was June 25, a 3-0 decision at Pacific FC. With the temperature on the pitch exceeding 40 C in their first trip to the Steel Town, the Wanderers fell behind just 65 seconds into the match. Tristan Borges booted a perfect cross from the corner which a leaping Woobens Pacius headed into the net behind Wanderers keeper Christian Oxner.

It was Pacius’ team-leading 10th goal of the season and helped earn league-leading Forge its club-record sixth straight victory. The Wanderers slip to 5-10-3, 11 points back of fourth-place Atletico Ottawa.
