“This is number five, and we’re opening a lot more after this,” Hero Doughnuts founder Wil Drake said about the Trussville shop.
In addition to exotic doughnuts like maple sea salt, blueberry crumble, peanut butter crisp and other flavors, the breakfast offerings include kolaches, breakfast buns and plates with fried eggs and hash browns, or yogurt and granola. Lunch buns include Hero cheeseburgers, Super Crunch fried chicken breast sandwich and turkey and avocado, among others.
According to Hero Doughnuts founder Wil Drake, who created the business with partner Jason Wallis, this is the fifth location. “This is number five, and we’re opening a lot more after this,” Drake said in a video message about the Trussville store. Other locations include Homewood, in Birmingham near Railroad Park, Summerhill in the Atlanta area, and in Charleston, S.C.Hero Doughnuts & Buns opened its latest location on Main Street/U.S. 11 in Trussville on Aug. 23, 2022.
