“I would have loved to have come and, you know, sport a nice tuxedo, but I had other engagements,” Hizzoner said. Mayor Eric Adams said he skipped the 2023 Met Gala because of several other Monday events, including being honored with a 2023 Champion of Literacy Award at the Literacy Partners Gala .Hizzoner attended the 2022 Met Gala wearing an “End Gun Violence” tuxedo on the red carpet.It wasn’t immediately clear what other two events the mayor was invited to or whether he actually attended — or what private events he may have attended afterward.
