There will no doubt be some adjustments to Thanksgiving plans for most Maritimers this weekend as Philippe moves through while much of Newfoundland and Labrador will escape most of its impacts.

Peak sustained winds of 20 to 40 km/h remain in the forecast for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and southwestern Newfoundland, except 40 to 60 km/h along exposed coastlines. Peak wind gusts of 40 to 70 km/h are forecast for parts of northwest New Brunswick and, perhaps, southern Victoria County in Cape Breton, along the west coast of Newfoundland along with western Labrador, with moderate to minimal gusts elsewhere in that province.

The rest of Nova Scotia, along with Prince Edward Island, should expect five to 15 mm with local amounts of 15 to 30, except pockets of 20 to 40 mm along Nova Scotia’s Atlantic Coast.
