After several days of punishing heat, California's San Francisco Bay Area is expected to see some relief on Wednesday, especially at the coast.

. At 8 p.m. Tuesday, California's Independent System Operator announced that there would be no rolling blackouts.on Tuesday were notable: Santa Rosa hit 115 degrees on Tuesday, surpassing its previous all-time record high of 113 set in 1913. San Jose reached 109 on Tuesday, surpassing its all-time max record of 108 set on Sept. 1, 2017.
Coastal locations will see more significant cooling on Wednesday than inland valleys, due to a strengthening ocean breeze. The coastal winds kicked up Tuesday afternoon, and locations along the coast saw temperatures nosedive. "Downtown San Francisco climbed to 98 and is now at 86," the weather service wrote in a forecast update issued at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday."The reason for this cool down is that winds have shifted along the coast and we are now getting south to southwest flow which has allowed some of the cooler marine air to filter into areas near the coast."
These winds will pick up again Wednesday afternoon. Downtown SF is forecast to hit a high of 79 on Wednesday.
