Want to get married in a museum? Here are the most unique nuptial locations in SA.
Ellen De-La-Hunty is one of many women who have had their bridal portraits taken at the Briscoe Western Art Museum.The couple married there on Oct. 16, 2021, then had their reception on the nearby lawn.
Ceremonies and receptions can be done inside, outside or both. Weddings of up to 600 can spread out in the 10,000-square-foot Mays Family Center. "I think she chose it the same way a lot of people choose our venue," said Jackson, whose responsibilities include working with couples planning weddings in the space."Her husband is from the U.K., and I think she wanted to show his family something that was a little bit Texas, but she also wanted to sort of be able to have an upscale wedding. She called it her royal wedding with a Texas flair.
The museum offers indoor and outdoor options, as well as indoor-outdoor combos. Couples can avail themselves of the McNutt Sculpture Garden or the Clingman Education Gallery, which boasts a beautiful fireplace. There also are event spaces in the Jack Guenther Pavilion, which include views of the River Walk and of the garden. The third floor includes a mansard roof and floor-to-ceiling windows. Some couples have transformed it into a chapellike space, Jackson said.
