After their mother left in 1966, Ragsdale and her siblings stayed with their father, who forbade them from talking about the abandonment.At first, living a double life can be crucial for surviving an abusive environment. Ragsdale was motivated to write her tell-all memoir,"Loose Cannons," to break the cycle of generational trauma for her own children and grandchildren.is easier said than done, especially for victims who felt invalidated or unsupported during their struggles. However, "when you can be honest with yourself and others to acknowledge the trauma, that's the first step in healing," MacNair says.
