Russell Henley takes the lead at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2025 with an impressive 8-under 64. The tournament saw spectacular hole-in-ones by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, while Scottie Scheffler made a strong comeback after a month-long absence.
Russell Henley of the United States took the lead at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2025 with an 8-under 64 on the first day of competition. Henley birdied his last two holes at Spyglass Hill, while Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry each celebrated with a hole-in-one on different courses. McIlroy's ace came on the par-3 14th at Pebble Beach, his second hole-in-one at the tournament, while Lowry's impressive shot landed on the green at Pebble Beach and rolled straight into the cup.
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler, making a comeback after a month-long break due to an injury, delivered a solid performance with a 67 at Spyglass Hill. Scheffler showed resilience by bouncing back from an opening bogey, missing only one green and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. The first day of the tournament saw calm conditions with light cloud cover and cool weather, making Pebble Beach a favorable course. Despite the relatively quiet atmosphere compared to previous years, the crowd erupted as Scheffler's fairway metal landed just short of the bunker on the par-5 14th, setting up an eagle putt. However, it was McIlroy who stole the show with his incredible sand wedge shot that flew straight into the cup. McIlroy finished the day with a 66, showcasing his exceptional form with birdies on the back nine, including a 1 from the ace and birdies on both par-5s.Other notable performances included Jordan Spieth, who started strong but struggled to maintain his momentum, settling for a 70. Viktor Hovland, Cam Davis, Jake Knapp, and Justin Rose all shot 65 at Pebble Beach, while Sepp Straka and Rasmus Hojgaard carded 65s at Spyglass Hill. Scheffler's impressive display of consistency demonstrated his dominance in the field. His 100th round with one bogey or fewer since 2022 solidified his position as one of golf's best players. As the tournament progresses, with increasing chances of wind and rain, the competition is expected to intensify
