Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment officials on Friday issued an air quality advisory covering most of eastern Colorado, effective through 4 p.m. Saturday, anticipating air quality will be “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” Smoke containing fine particulates was reducing the air quality, evident as a brown-gray haze mixed with fog Friday morning in Denver, obscuring views of downtown buildings and mountains to the west of the city.
“There could be some gradual improvement during the day on Saturday, however a rapid clean-out of the air appears unlikely at this point,” said Scott Landes, CDPHE lead air quality meteorologist, in a written statement.
