Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of “prolonged heavy rain” over Vancouver Island this weekend.
Rainfall numbers are expected to reach 40 to 70 millimetres for most of the Island over the three-day period, though West Vancouver Island and Inland Vancouver Island are expected to be drenched – with rainfall totals predicted to reach 200 millimetres.
Besides the Island, heavy rain will also soak Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Whistler and the Sunshine Coast.
