Police have closed several streets around Parliament Hill during an “ongoing police investigation.”
Officials are sharing little information over the ongoing “police action,” though video surfaced on social media showing a group of about 20 demonstrators blocking the intersection of Wellington and Metcalfe Street.
A group of of protestors chanting “freedom” slogans was also congregating at the corner of Metcalfe and Sparks Street on Saturday. Heavily-armed tactical police units are patrolling downtown streets, and police have closed several downtown intersections, with Wellington Street closed from Bronson to Elgin Street, while Metcalfe Street remains closed between Albert and Slater Street.
