HALIFAX, N.S. — Thousands of health-care administration workers who have been in contract negotiations with Nova Scotia Health and the IWK Health Centre since October 2020 have come to a tentative agreement with their employers.

The agreement was reached late Wednesday with details of the contract not yet made public as the Council of Unions takes the contract to workers for ratification.'Need a good pay increase' to stay afloat: Health admin workers rally across N.S. The previous offer, which was rejected by workers in April, giving them a strike mandate, would have seen annual wage increases of 1.5, 1.5, 3 and 0.5 per cent over four years.

Union committee representatives indicated there was overall satisfaction with reaching a deal as opposed to entering a strike position. Roughly 5,000 workers will be covered under the new agreement and are expected to see their first wage increase since 2019 if the deal gets approval from union members.
