“If we don’t reach an agreement tonight, we will ratchet up the pressure tomorrow”, Briere said Tuesday evening. “And if it’s not enough tomorrow, we will ratchet up the pressure, big time on Thursday and Friday. We’re going to escalate this to a new level.

“I’m afraid that our members are starting to be really bitter after the strike,” he said. “And if it keeps going, they’re going to buy themselves years of unrest at the CRA, which I don’t think is good for the government and its coffers.” In a email Tuesday evening, CRA spokesperson Adam Blondin said the agency is currently negotiating with the union and “working to achieve a fair and reasonable agreement.”

He described the newest wage proposal as a “serious slap in the face and show of disrespect for our members that have been there during the pandemic for Canadians.”
