"It's like looking at clouds. You know how you see something different? And you may think, 'oh that looks like an elephant!" said artist Edna Harper. That’s what keeps a Middle Town garden in San Diego alive.Around the neighborhood, they call her"Edna Scissorhands" as a nickname; and since then her plants have never been the same. Today, she has her gardener Pedro Duran trim each figure, one at a time.
"You know, when you're an artist, you can see things. These sculptures are reminiscent of my travels to the Orient, Singapore, and Thailand. I saw a lot of elephants. I love elephants," said Harper. "My neighbors like it because it's bringing notoriety to the neighborhood. People come from all over the world to see it. I love when people come by and take pictures," said Harper.
