Leaving from the outside post six and sent off at the longest win odds could not stop Runaway Mystery from circling the field in capturing the Winners Over in two minutes four seconds on Saturday's opening day of the 2024 harness racing season at Northside Downs.

Harold LeBlanc Jr., Joel LeBlanc and Gussie Burns share ownership of the 10-year-old gelding, who paid $20.30 to win. Kennedy opened the program by winning the first two races of the season, beginning with Southfield Summer, who picked up her first lifetime win in just her third career start for owner Leonard MacLellan in 2:06.1 over Gotitfrommymomma and A Shui She Goes.

Mofford’s wins came aboard Whosyourfather, who paced the fastest mile of the day, winning in 2:01 for owner Debra Rankin. Whosyourfather led all the way to record her 11th career win. Accelerator finished second, with At The Helm rounding out the top three.
