• In order to give women a chance to play hockey after high school, a team featuring West Hants athletes was created and entered into the Nova Scotia Women’s Hockey League. The team consisted of players between the ages of 15 and 40. Coach Mark Benedict was reported as being instrumental in getting the team on the ice for the 2007-08 season.
• Two Halifax men were ordered to pay restitution to Hants West Rural High School and sentenced to prison for breaking into the school in the fall and stealing money. One man received four years of jail time at Dorchester Penitentiary and the other received two years. • An agricultural meeting was planned for Kentville in February to discuss growing potatoes and corn in the Annapolis Valley. It was noted that Nova Scotia was the only Canadian province to increase potato production in 1972, dedicating 3,487 acres to its production. It was noted that Canada provided half the seed potatoes that were used in the world, 90 per cent of which came from Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.
