• Centreville farmer John Eisses said he was one of the first apple producers to begin planting Honeycrisp trees back in 1996. Since that time, the fruit has become widely popular, with 47 growers in the Annapolis Valley in 2005, which coincided with the province’s $1.175 million Honeycrisp Orchard Renewal Program.
• The Windsor and District Lions Club was offering a free fingerprint identification clinic for elementary and preschool-aged children. • The first-ever steel cage match at the Hants County War Memorial Community Centre in Windsor marked a number of firsts — including the largest crowd to attend a MainStream Wrestling Entertainment show in Windsor, and the largest paying crowd to watch wresting in the previous 25 years. Nearly 250 people attended the event, which saw Sidewalk Sam and X-Ray Kyle Kruze get bloody inside the cage.
• Windsor firefighters were kept busy battling grass fires, sometimes receiving upwards of five calls a day. • Mr. and Mrs. Terry Phillips were named the managers of the Kingsway Inn.
