We are having an epic snowstorm. No one in their right mind would be out on the roads today. Of course, I’m playing squash in a few minutes, but no one would accuse me of being in my right mind. This year is Mark Buehrle’s fourth time on the ballot. His vote started at 11.0%, then 5.8%, 10.8% and 8.3% last year. It doesn’t look like his numbers are going to grow. Buehrle is one of the most challenging choices on the list. Mark was never the best pitcher in the game.
When he came to the Blue Jays, Cee Angi told us, in a guest post, that we would love Mark Buehrle, and she was right. It took a bit. He started his Jays career with a few bad starts but turned it around after a particularly crappy start against the Rays. He gave up 7 runs in the third inning . Amazingly, John Gibbons left him in the game. He finished out 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 7 earned. That turned out to be a turning point. He lowered his season ERA every start for his next 21.
