Halifax Partnership supports businesses in hiring international talent to meet specialized labour needs

In the highly competitive global competition for talent, Halifax Partnership can help employers in Nova Scotia find an immigration program to suit their hiring needs. Through the Atlantic Immigration Program , employers can recruit international talent and graduates to meet their labour needs. Another program, the Global Talent Stream , helps employers hire a Temporary Foreign Worker to fill unique and specialized positions.
Hiring skilled workers for Rayleigh is not a simple proposition, as the company has developed a new form of specialized solar technology called perovskite. The company is working toward commercializing this material, which is a flexible, lightweight, and scalable solar film that promises to provide a clean transition to renewable energy.
Already having hired a number of international staff that had previously immigrated to Canada, the company connected with the Partnership through a Dalhousie IdeaHub event in 2019. The Partnership guided them through the process of becoming a designated employer for AIP. Through the GTS, Rayleigh was able to fast-track the work permits of two international hires in the winter of 2022, a process that allowed the company to secure their new chemical engineer, with an additional scientist’s arrival pending: both were approved as part of the GTS program.
