Making Phyllo Parcels with a Greek Yaya | SaltWire #halifaxnovascotia #greekfood #cookingThat was the sentiment of one sailing observer from Glace Bay who joined the thousands of enthusiastic Sail Grand Prix fans and curious onlookers lined along the Halifax waterfront and the shores of Dartmouth over the weekend. They braved occasional showers and unseasonably cool temperatures to watch high-speed foiling F50 catamarans zigzag through a tight race course on Halifax Harbour.

Spectators get a good spot to watch as the Canadian team sails by before the beginning of Sunday's SailGP races on Halifax Harbour. - Tim Krochak Ten international teams from Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States descended on Halifax for the 11th event of SailGP’s fourth season, which finishes in San Francisco next month.“It is a big deal to have so much open waterfront for people to watch the racing,” she said. “We have a product that’s broadcasted to 200 different countries in the world and to have actual people on the shore watching SailGP is ideal for us.

Frank Denis, executive director of Sail Nova Scotia, which led Halifax’s successful bid, said potential dates for the 2025 event has been floated around but he expects it be held later in June. “If one of our partners no longer wishes to be a part of it, then it can’t happen,” Denis said. “If the waterfront or port won’t shut down, it’ll be case closed.”“It’s not a team decision, it’s a decision made by Sail GP and their discussions with local funding partners and sponsors and commercial partners,” she said. “It’s not a simple done deal but we think we can make this happen. We have every intention in coming back to Halifax and as a team we would love to come back.

“The impact from people flying in from all over the world at a relatively quiet time as far as tourism goes in this province, has been absolutely fantastic,” Denis said. “All of the hotels have been booked, restaurants are booked and there’s been a fantastic vibe about this event, especially on the waterfront.”
