Raise a Glass to Malbec! Malbec World Day, April 17 | SaltWire #reels #shorts #wine #foodHalifax Transit cancelled five Halifax-Alderney crossings during rush hour Tuesday morning. Four days prior, the service shut down early at 6 p.m. In both cases, Halifax Transit said staff availability was to blame for the service disruption.
Due to staffing availability the following trips on the Alderney Ferry will be cancelled: Departing Alderney at: 7:15am/7:45am/8:15am/8:45am/9:15am/9:45amThe ferry will resume at 10:15am at Alderney“People are burning out. They want balance; they want to spend time with their families.” Right now about 40 employees are operating the service, said MacKenzie. But there are only five relief workers who can be called in case of a staffing emergency. MacKenzie says that number needs to be at least doubled to as much as 13. He also says that backup crew needs to be scheduled each day to avoid unnecessary cancellations. The city says it's trying to recruit to maintain staffing levels and keep"open vacancies to a minimal impact on service delivery.
