The “Hollaback Girl” singer stopped by SiriusXM’s“He’s so good at the show, I mean, he’s just so magical,” Stefani gushed to Cohen. “Blake is literally a unicorn. Like anywhere he goes, people are just attracted to him, and he’s such an incredible talent.”
But once upon a time, Stefani didn’t know he even existed on the same planet. “I can’t imagine before, I didn’t even know he existed, like before the show. I didn’t even know he was a human being on this planet,” the reigning pop magnate said before dishing on how she grew to love his country music side. “And I didn’t know much about country…. He is literally a country jukebox. He knows every single song forever, he’s incredible like that. But I just love that we’re so from different genres.
During her interview on the SiriusXM channel Radio Andy, Stefani crowned “Mine Would Be You” as her favorite track by her beau, which peaked at No. 28 on theback in 2013. “But there’s so many good ones,” she continued. “He’s written some amazing songs. He wrote a song about me, which was really fun.”
With both being long-time talented performers, Shelton has also written songs with Stefani, and the 49-year-old artist revealed their first go at it was the only time she felt nervous singing in front of the country star. “Like when we first met, we had written a song together called ‘[Go Ahead And] Break My Heart.’ And I remember he came over and we were going to practice it for the first time,” she told Cohen. “I mean, we had hardly, barely even hung out. And I think I sweated through my entire clothes, trying to sing while he played the guitar.”
