Gallagher said the game plan heading into Monday’s series opener was to be aware of Mullins and Jorge Mateo, who both rank among the league leaders in steals.
Gallagher plated Cleveland’s first run with an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth after Will Brennan doubled and moved to third on a balk by Orioles starter Tyler Wells. He also figured prominently in the Guards’ four-run seventh when he slapped a single to right that drove in Myles Straw. Steven Kwan alertly sprinted home in the confusion after Gallagher’s slide as McCann was unable to locate the ball.
