Working Families Aurora, along with Ald. John Laesch, at large, a member of the group, will hold the event at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marywood Community Center, 1805 Church Road in Aurora.

An Aurora-based political activist group will hold an event opposing the establishment of a tax increment financing district connected to the Hollywood Casino-Aurora resort project. The event will feature Tom Tresser, founder of Civic Lab Chicago, an anti-TIF district organization, to share his analysis of the proposed casino TIF district. The event is being held in advance of the Joint Review Board meeting on the proposed TIF district at 10 a.m. Nov.

Members of the organization are also gearing up for the TIF district’s public hearing, which will be before the City Council at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Aurora City Council chambers, City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place. Establishing the TIF district is part of the redevelopment agreement the city has with Penn Entertainment to spend $360 million on a new Hollywood Casino-Aurora resort and casino on Farnsworth Avenue, near the Interstate 88 interchange.
