Still-elevated food prices were among the main items contributing to inflation in June, with the rate of price growth in grocery stores essentially unchanged from the previous month.
Grocery prices rose 9.1 per cent year-over-year in June, Statistics Canada reported on Wednesday, after growing 9 per cent in May.
Restaurant food also contributed to the headline inflation increase, StatsCan said, though the pace of year-over-year price growth in restaurants slowed slightly in June to 6.6 per cent, down from 6.8 per cent in May.BIGGEST CONTRIBUTORS Inflation of all items excluding grocery rose 1.7 per cent, while all-items excluding mortgages rose 2 per cent.
