Brittney Griner's lawyers presented a doctor's letter in a Russian court recommending that the WNBA star use medical cannabis in the U.S. to treat chronic pain, according to multiple reports.
to drugs charges for carrying vape cartridges containing hashish oil in her luggage at a Moscow airport.
Last week, Griner told a judge that she didn't intend to break the law and accidentally packed the hashish oil. In February, the 31-year-old center for thewas returning to Russia to join UMMC Ekaterinburg, the team she plays for in the WNBA offseason, after a FIBA break when Russian authorities took her into custody on the charge of drug smuggling. Hashish oil is an illegal substance in Russia.
