REGINA—Argonauts offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek has been dressed more for a swimsuit photo shoot than the bone-chilling practices duringShort sleeves and knee-length pants have been his dress code essentials, despite sub-zero temperatures.

“It’s a bit chilly to say the least, but I got drafted here ,” the six-foot-five, 303-pound Bladek said Friday as the Argos practised outdoors at icy Mosaic Stadium,against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. “It’s bred into me. You don’t wear sleeves. You don’t let the cold get you.” Bladek, who was born in Clifton, N.J., started all 18 games for the Roughriders in his draft year. He credits veteran linemen Dan Clark and Brendan LaBatte for instilling that cold-defying toughness.

“You’re a Sask boy, and when you become a Rider there’s something to that,” Bladek said. “And I try to show that to my . I brought that out there all week … short sleeves and short pants. And if it wasn’t for my coaches, I’d wearing no sleeves today. But they told me to wear them because they were worried for me.”forgoing the option of an hour’s drive to Moose Jaw to work indoors.

“They deserved it,” Argos receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr., who lost out to Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke for top Canadian, said of the Bombers. “They went 15-3 and they have a great team. “We think we have an outstanding team, and our focus is on Sunday’s game.”Collaros, who suffered an ankle injury during the final series of last Sunday’s West final, returned to practice Friday, easing any lingering concerns that he might not be ready for the big game.
