Greta suffered from depression for about three or four years, prior to the strike, Svente told the BBC. Since becoming a climate activist, she has become much more happy
LONDON — Teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg has taken the world by storm. In the span of a year, she has organized a worldwide school strike, attended a U.N. conference, consorted with several global leaders , and has won numerous awards for her work in spreading awareness around the environmental issue.
To help her get better, he began spending more time with Greta and her sister, Beata at their family home in Sweden. The family also sought help from doctors, who ultimately diagnosed Greta with autism — a condition, she has repeatedly said has helped her “see things from outside the box.”Since becoming a climate activist, Greta has become “more happy”, said Svente and is now in a “very good place.” “She dances around, she laughs a lot, we have a lot of fun,” he said.
A video of the 16-year-old Swedish campaigner giving Trump what media described as a “death stare” at a U.N. climate summit in New York in September went viral on social media. Trump has questioned climate science and is pulling the United States out of the 2015 Paris Agreement on global warming. Svente said she had dealt very well with “the fake news, all the things that people try to fabricate about her, the hate that that generates” while in the global media limelight. “Quite frankly, I don’t know how she does it, but she laughs most of the time. She finds it hilarious,” he said.
She also spoke in Monday’s BBC program with veteran British broadcaster David Attenborough, telling him how his nature documentaries had inspired her.
