“I’m still thinking about it,” May said.

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May will leave her name on the ballot for the election of a new Speaker in the House of Commons on Tuesday, months after a mild stroke saw her on doctor’s orders not to travel by plane to Ottawa.

By convention, all 338 MPs are considered to be in the running, and MPs who do not want to run for the role must remove themselves from the ballot. After having a mild stroke on June 29 that left a hematoma or pooled blood in her brain, May is waiting for an MRI to be scheduled to hopefully show the blood is no longer present. Until then, she is not permitted to fly.

On Friday, May spoke to many other MPs who may be leaving their names on the ballot including Chalottetown Liberal MP Sean Casey, Hull-Aylmer MP Greg Fergus and Nova Scotia Conservative MP Chris D’Entremont. If chosen Speaker, May said she would return to the rule that sees the Speaker recognize who speaks in the House and not allow partisan party whips to offer up lists of names to the Speaker as has become the custom.

Carnival CEO on demand for cruises: 'All we see are green arrows'Carnival CEO on demand for cruises: 'All we see are green arrows'Shares of Carnival (CCL) closed lower on Friday despite reporting record third-quarter revenues of $6.9 billion. Carnival CEO Josh Weinstein joins Yahoo Finance to break down why the company isn't concerned with the stock price and has a positive outlook going forward. Weinstein boasted the company's strong occupancy with bookings at higher prices. 'Cruising is inherently an unprecedented value compared to land-based alternatives,' Weinstein said, pointing out why consumers are willing to spend money on a cruise vacation despite recent economic headwinds. But travelers aren't just booking vacations. They are spending more when they get on board too. 'As we look out over the next 12 months, the onboard spend levels haven't slowed down, the absolute amount that folks are paying for when they're on board for experiences...hasn't slowed down,' Weinstein said.
